Ingredients For fresh apple pound cake

  • 1 1/2 c
    cooking oil
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 3 lg
    eggs
  • 3 c
    sifted plain flour
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 3 lg
    apples,cored, peeled and cut into small peices
  • 1 c
    chopped nuts
  • SAUCE
  • 3/4 c
    stick butter, or margarine
  • 1 c
    light brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    milk, or cream

How To Make fresh apple pound cake

    Combine oil, sugar and eggs. Beat at medium speed for 3 minutes. Combine salt, soda, cinnamon, vanilla and flour. Mix together for another couple of minutes until combined. Fold in apples and nuts. Bake at 300 degrees for about 1 hour and 30 minutes or until done by checking with a tooth pick. Cool 20 minutes and then pour on the Sauce.

    For the Sauce Combine all ingredients into a pan, bring to a boil, cool slightly, and then pour on cooled cake. It will be a bit runny at first, so I always let it sit a little while, making sure I stir a bit, so it won't get that shell on top. But, so good. It really adds the finishing touch to this cake. Just fabulous.
