Ingredients For festive fruitcake bars

1 cflour, gold medal all purpose

3/4 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

1/2 cmargarine, softened

1 tsporange peel, grated

1/2 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspcinnamon

1/4 tspsalt
-
1egg
-
1/4 cflour, gold medal all purpose

2 1/2 ccherries, candied
-
1 pkgpitted dates, 8 oz, cut in half

1 cpecans, coarsely chopped pecans or filberts (i use pecans)
- ORANGE GLAZE

1/3 cgranulated sugar

2 Tbsporange juice, fresh
How To Make festive fruitcake bars

1Heat oven to 350ºF. Grease and flour rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches. In large bowl, mix 1 cup flour, the brown sugar, butter, orange peel, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and egg with spoon.

2In medium bowl, mix 1/4 cup flour, the cherries, dates and pecans; stir into brown sugar mixture. Spread in pan.

3Bake about 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
