We have made this coffee cake many times.It is great for breakfast and/or served with coffee or a cuppa tea.

  • GREASE LAYER PAN: 8X8X2 OR 9X9X2 INCHES OR ROUND 9X1.5 INCHES.
  • COFFEE CAKE INGREDIENTS
  • 1 1/2 c
    flour
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 c
    shortening
  • 3/4 c
    milk
  • 1
    egg
  • TOPPING INGREDIENTS
  • 1/3 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/4 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter, firm butter.

How To Make favorite coffee cake

    Heat Oven to 375 degrees.

    Grease round layer pan, 9 x 1 1/2 inches. or square pan, 8 x 8 x2 inches or 9 x9 x2 inches.

    Blend all ingredients except Topping. Beat vigorously 1/2 minute. Spread in greased pan.

    Make Topping: Mix brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and firm butter until crumbly.

    Sprinkle Topping over batter.

    Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm.
