I started making coffee cakes to sell at our local farmers market when my boys were in High School. What I loved about doing this at this time in my life was having folks love my coffee cake and better yet, having them come back the next week after trying them and buying several more!

Ingredients For farmers market chocolate chip coffee cake

  • 1/3 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    flour
  • 2 tsp
    butter, softened
  • 1/2 c
    walnuts
  • 1 c
    chocolate chips
  • 1 3/4 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 3/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 3 lg
    eggs
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • 1 1/2 c
    chocolate chips

How To Make farmers market chocolate chip coffee cake

    Preheat oven at 325 degrees In food processor, place 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1 tbsp flour, 2 tsp butter, 1/2 cups walnuts and 1 cup of chocolate chips. Pulse into a crumble and set aside

    Put all dry ingredients together and set aside

    Mix brown sugar, butter, vanilla, eggs together until frothy
  • 4
    alternate dry ingredients (1/2 cup at a time) with the sour cream until all is incorporated. Fold in the 1 1/2c chocolate chips into mixture

    Place in a 10 inch round cake pan (spray with pam). Fill about 2/3 full. (This recipe will make 4 cake rounds). Serving 8 people each

    Prior to putting into the preheated oven, generously add some of the crumble all over the top, pat down slightly. When baking, place cake rounds on a cookie sheet (makes it easier to check cakes) Bake for 20 minutes and check. Cake is done when fork is placed in center and removed clean
