easy heart shaped valentine cake

Last Valentine's Day, my 12 year old niece wanted to make something different. So I had a box of yellow cake mix, and we made 1 - 8" round cake, and 1 - 8" square cake. The cake turned out terrific and Tori was very pleased with the results.

How To Make easy heart shaped valentine cake

1Pre-hear oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour both baking pans. Set aside.

2Beat cake mix, water, oil, and eggs on low speed 30 seconds, then on medium speed 2 minutes. Pour into prepared pans.

3Bake both pans for 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Don't overbake. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pan. Cool completely before icing.

4When cakes are cooled, cut the round cake in half, careful to make them the same size. Put together on a serving plate as shown in picture. Decorate as you wish.
