Another DIY cake mix for your larder! I am collecting these to put in a cookbook for my children (and I of course!). A spice cake can be used for so many other kinds of cakes too...carrot cakes, applesauce cakes, oatmeal cakes, etc. I hope you enjoy this recipe and the convenience of being able to have it on the shelf if you need it, without having to get it at the store. This is not only easier, but cheaper!

Ingredients For diy spice cake mix
- BAGGED CAKE MIX DRY INGREDIENTS:

2 1/3 call-purpose flour

1/3 cnonfat dry milk powder

3 tspbaking powder
-
3/4 tspsalt
-
1 1/2 cgranulated sugar
-
1/2 cplus 1 tablespoon butter flavored shortening
-
1 tspground cinnamon
-
1/4 tspground cloves
-
1/4 tspground allspice
- INGREDIENTS TO BE ADDED TO THE MIX:

1/2 cbutter plus 1 tablespoon, softened

2eggs
-
1 cwater
-
1 tspvanilla extract
How To Make diy spice cake mix

1Combine all dry mix ingredients and store in an airtight container or Ziploc bag with instructions and the date packaged.

2Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch cake pan.

3In a large bowl with an electric hand mixer on high speed, cream butter until smooth. Add 1 egg at a time; beating well after each addition. Reduce speed to low and add water and vanilla and continue beating for approximately 2 minutes more.

4Slowly add the pre-made cake mix to the wet ingredients one cup at a time mixing thoroughly after each addition and scraping down sides.

5Pour into the prepared cake pan. Tap on counter to distribute and smooth top.

6Bake for approximately 25-30 minutes. Cool thoroughly before frosting or serving.
