I created this brand new brownie cake recipe inspired by death by chocolate. It's good with a glass of chocolate milk.

Ingredients For death by chocolate brownie layer cake

  • BROWNIE CAKE
  • 2 c
    chocolate malt balls
  • 1 box
    triple chocolate brownie mix
  • 1 c
    vegetable oil
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 3
    egg whites
  • 2
    milk chocolate candy bars, chopped
  • 1 c
    chopped chocolate covered almonds
  • 1/4 c
    dark chocolate chips
  • FILLING
  • 1 c
    heavy cream
  • 1/2 c
    melted margarine
  • 1
    packet hot cocoa mix
  • 1/2 c
    decaf cold brew coffee
  • 3/4 c
    Nutella
  • FROSTING
  • 1 tube
    frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 3/4 c
    chocolate milk
  • 8 oz
    light cream cheese, softened
  • 1
    packet instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 c
    hot fudge sauce

How To Make death by chocolate brownie layer cake

    Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

    To make the brownie cake, coat the bottom and sides of two 8-inch round cake pans with cooking spray. Add the chocolate malt balls.

    In a large bowl, combine the brownie mix, vegetable oil, water, egg whites and chopped chocolate candy bars.

    Beat together with a electric mixer on low speed 3 minutes and continue to beat at medium speed for 30 seconds until smooth.

    Pour the brownie batter into the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

    Cool completely before removing from the cake pans.

    To make the filling, combine the heavy cream, melted margarine, hot cocoa mix, decaf cold brew coffee, and nutella in a medium bowl. Whisk together until blended and set aside.

    To make the frosting, combine the whipped topping, chocolate milk, cream cheese, instant chocolate pudding mix and hot fudge sauce in another medium bowl. Mix well until smooth and set aside.

    Place a bottom layer of brownie cake onto a plate. Spoon the filling on the bottom layer brownie cake. Sprinkle with chopped chocolate covered almonds.

    Top with another brownie cake. Spread the frosting on the top and sides of the cake. Garnish with dark chocolate chips on top.
