my mother made the BEST Crystal Pound Cake, because the outside of her cake would crystalize. I have yet to achieve this on mine. It needs no icing. And is wonderful warm from the oven.

Ingredients For crystal pound cake

3 csugar

1 cshortening

5eggs

3 cflour

1/2 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspsalt

1 Tbspvanilla extract

1 cbuttermilk
How To Make crystal pound cake

1Cream shortening and sugar well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition add vanilla.

2Sift flour, baking soda and salt together. Add alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition.

3Pour into greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees 1 hour, or until toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean. Turn out onto cake plate, let cool. Enjoy!
