This is a creamsicle cake recipe I've had for years. It's so good.

This creamsicle cake will bring back childhood memories of buying a treat from the ice cream truck. The cake is moist and full of orange flavor. The topping is creamy with a touch of orange flavor mixed with vanilla - the classic creamsicle flavor. Refreshing, this cake is perfect for any summer gathering.

Ingredients For creamsicle cake

  • 1 pkg
    Orange Supreme cake mix
  • 1 pkg
    orange gelatin (3 oz)
  • 1/2 c
    boiling water
  • 1/2 c
    cold water
  • TOPPING INGREDIENTS
  • 8 oz
    frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1 sm
    instant vanilla pudding mix, unprepared (3.4 oz)
  • 1/4 tsp
    orange extract

Orange cake mix is hard to find. Make your own by adding 3 Tbsp of orange gelatin to a vanilla cake mix. We also added a drop of orange food coloring to the topping for a nice presentation.
  • Punching holes in a baked cake.

    Mix cake as directed on the box for a 9x13" pan. Cool. Punch holes with a meat fork.
  • Orange gelatin combined with hot water and cold water.

    Mix Jell-o with boiling water. Stir until the mix is dissolved. Add cold water.
  • Gelatin mixture poured over the holes in the cake.

    Pour the Jell-o over the cake making sure it goes into the holes. Refrigerate the cake for 1 hour to set.
  • Vanilla pudding mixed with milk and orange extract.

    TOPPING: Mix pudding with milk. Add a few drops of orange flavoring to taste.
  • Folding whipped topping into pudding.

    Then fold in Cool Whip.
  • Topping spread across the cake.

    Add topping to the cake and keep refrigerated.
