The basic recipe is a recipe I got from my sister Joan for apple bread. I turned it into a Cranapple nut bread and added a crumb topping. There is something about mixing the sugars with the fruit first, that adds a different level of sweetness to the recipe. I had been making her apple bread recipe for about 20 years. Which, I also have posted. I thought I’d switch it up a bit. The bread came out excellent. I hope you all enjoy this delicious bread.

Ingredients For cran-apple bread

  • 1 1/4 c
    chopped apple
  • 1 c
    chopped food processor fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1/2 c
    chopped walnuts
  • 1/2
    packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c
    melted butter cooled
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • OPTIONAL CRUMB TOPPING
  • 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 4 Tbsp
    sioftened butter

How To Make cran-apple bread

  • Heat oven

    Heat oven to 350°. Grease and flour loaf pan.
  • Cranberries, apples, nuts,  and sugar mixed together

    Place cranberries, chopped apple, nuts, and sugars into a nowl. Mix to combine. Set aside. Let sit 5 minutes.
  • Flour, cinnamon, and baking soda mixed together

    In a seoerate bowl. Whisk flour, baking soda, and cinnamon together.set aside.
  • Melted butter and egg mixed together

    In another bowl. beat egg with melted butter until combined. Mix in vanilla.
  • Butter and egg added to fruit

    Pour egg mixture over apple cranberry mixture. Combine well.
  • Cran-apple batter

    Add flour mixture a little at a time to cranberry apple egg mixture. Stir well until moistened. Mixture will be heavy.
  • Cran-apple batter no  topping

    Place dough into a bread loaf pan. Proceed to topping recipe or place in oven and bake one hour or until pick comes out clean.
  • Cran-apple bread ready to bake

    Topping: Mix all ingredients together with hands. Crumble mixture over Bread dough. Place in oven and bake 350° About one hour., or until toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cran-apple bread out of the oven

    Cool loaf for one hour. Invert onto a platter and turn upright to finish cooling. After cooling, slice loaf, or wrap bread in foil or plastic wrap to store.
