Mom was such a good chef that she often left steps out of her recipes, yet knew what she needed to do without writing the steps down. This was one such recipe!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour, sifted
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 cup cold water

How To Make cockeyed cake, mom's

  • Step 1
    Put flour, cocoa and salt through sifter. Stir into greased 9x9 pan, make 3 grooves. Pour water over all. Beat with a spoon until nearly smooth and you can't see the flour. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Can double recipe and make in a bowl, loaf pan or layer pan.
