I took these to a birthday party and they were a big hit. The cream cheese icing on the top makes them special. If you love the icing you might want to double the ingredients.

    swiss or german chocolate cake mis
  • 1
    3 oz packsage instant choclate pudding
  • 1 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4
    large eggs
  • 1/2 cup
    water
  • 1/2 cup
    vegetable or canola oil
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • 2 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1
    8 oz package cream cheese,softened
  • 1/2 c
    butter,softened
  • 1
    16 oz package confectioners sugar
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    mini chocolate chips (for garnish)

How To Make chocolate velvet cupcakes w cream cheese icing

    Preheat oven to 350. Line 24-30 regular size muffin tins with paper liners.

    In a large bowl combine cake mix.pudding mix and chocolate chips. In another bowl beat the eggs and then combine with the water,oil,sour cream and vanilla extract.Stir into the dry mixture until just combined.

    Scoop the mixture into prepared muffin tins and bake at 350 for about 25-39 minutes. Mixture may still appear a little wet . Do not over bake.

    For the icing combine the softened cream cheese and butter with the powdered sugar and vanilla in an electric mixer. Spread or pipe the icing cupcakes after they have cooler. Sprinkle tops with min chocolate chips.
