What a cake! It's a moist and soft chocolate cake with a caramelized pecan icing. Pouring the icing over the warm cake makes it irresistible. This should definitely be served warm so the gooey frosting is at optimal gooeyness. Grab a glass of milk and enjoy.

Ingredients For chocolate pecan cake

  • 1 stick
    butter, softened
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 4
    eggs
  • 1 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1 can
    Hershey's chocolate syrup, 16 oz
  • FOR CHOCOLATE FROSTING:
  • 1 stick
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1/3 c
    evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 3/4 c
    chopped pecans

How To Make chocolate pecan cake

  • A 9x13 baking dish greased and floured.

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 13 by 9 by 2-inch pan.
  • Butter and sugar ready to be creamed in a bowl.

    For the cake: Using an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Slowly adding the eggs.

    Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Flour, baking powder, and salt sifted together in a bowl.

    Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together in another bowl.
  • Adding sifted flour to creamed butter/sugar mixture.

    Add to creamed mixture, continuing to beat.
  • Adding vanilla and chocolate syrup to the mixture.

    Add vanilla and chocolate syrup to batter and mix well.
  • Batter poured into a 9x13 baking dish.

    Pour into prepared pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Just before cake is done, prepare frosting.
  • Butter, chocolate chips, sugar and evaporated milk for the frosting in a saucepan.

    For the frosting: Put butter, chocolate chips, sugar and evaporated milk in a saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil. Stirring ingredients together, boil for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Mixing in nuts and vanilla.

    Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and nuts.
  • Pouring warm frosting over cake.

    Pour over warm cake.
