I enjoy experimenting with Gooey Butter Cakes for different occassions. When my office had a "Chocolate Decadence Day" I knew I wanted to try something really special. We have a lot of dark chocolate fans, so I went as dark as possible. It disappeared very quickly. It's now a favorite at our pot luck luncheons.

Ingredients For chocolate decadence gooey butter cake

  • CAKE
  • 1 box
    chocolate fudge cake mix
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 stick
    butter, melted
  • FILLING
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, room temperature
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 stick
    butter, melted
  • 1 jar
    hershey special dark topping
  • 1 lb
    powdered sugar

How To Make chocolate decadence gooey butter cake

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x13 inch pan with cooking spray.

    In a medium bowl of electric mixer, combine cake ingredients. Spread in prepared pan.

    In a large bowl of electric mixer, combine filling ingredients until well incorporated. Spread over cake layer.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Don't over bake; the middle should be a little jiggly. Top with whipped cream, if desired.
