A man that I used to work with brought this for a potluck...lol...I believe it was his wife that did the cooking...this cake was delicious. It is made in a cookie sheet pan, is simple but packed with flavor. The one we had did not have nuts but the peanut butter instead. Great for a crowd.

1/2 tspsalt

1 cwater, cold

1/2 cshortening

3 Tbspcocoa powder

2eggs, beaten

1 tspbaking soda

1/2 cbuttermilk

1 tspvanilla extract
- ICING:

1 stickoleo

3 Tbspcocoa powder

1 boxpowdered sugar
-
1 tspvanilla extract

1/2 cnuts, optional or
-
1/3 cpeanut butter, crunchy

6 Tbspmilk

pinchsalt
How To Make chocolate cookie sheet cake

1Sift together flour, sugar, salt. In a saucepan put oleo, water, shortening & cocoa. Bring to a boil & pour over flour mixture. Mix well. Add eggs. Add baking soda, buttermilk & vanilla. Stir Well. Bake in greased & floured cookie sheet (15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1) in 350 degree oven for 20-25 minutes. Start making icing during last 5 minutes.

2ICING: Using same saucepan melt oleo, cocoa, peanut butter but do NOT boil. Take off heat & add powdered sugar, vanilla, nuts if desired & milk. Ice cake hot. Makes 35 squares.
