Ingredients For chocolate chip loaf

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 t. baking powder
  • 1/2 t. baking soda
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 t. vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup bittersweet or semisweet chocolate chips
  • ORANGE FROSTING:
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 t. butter, melted
  • 1 t. grated orange zest
  • 2 t. freshly squeezed orange juice

How To Make chocolate chip loaf

    Preheat oven to 350. Butter a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan. Line with foil, letting the edges overhang. Butter the foil. Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in medium bowl. Beat the butter, sugar and vanilla in large bowl with mixer at medium speed until creamy. Add the egg, beating until just blended. With mixer on low, gradually beat in dry ingredients, alternating with the sour cream. Stir in chocolate chips. Spoon batter into prepared pan. Bake until springy to the touch and a toothpick inserted into the center come out clean, 45 to 55 minutes. Cool loaf in pan for 5 minutes. Using foil as a lifter, remove loaf from pan. Carefully remove foil and let cool completely on a rack For the frosting, mix the powdered sugar, butter and orange zest in a medium bowl. Add enough orange juice to make a thick, spreadable frosting. Spread the frosting over the top of the cake. Serves 6 to 8
