Ingredients For chocolate almond brownies

2/3 cshortening
-
4 ozunsweetened chocolate

2 csugar

1 1/4 call purpose flour

1 cslivered almonds, toasted

1 calmond paste (not marzipan)

1 tspbaking powder

2 tspsalt

4eggs
How To Make chocolate almond brownies

1Heat oven to 350 degrees.

2Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.

3Chop up almonds paste into small pieces, add to flour mixture.

4Heat shortening and chocolate in 3-quart saucepan over low heat.

5Beat eggs and sugar until light.

6Add cooled chocolate mixture to eggs and sugar.

7Add flour mixture to chocolate mixture.

8Mix in toasted almonds.

9Spread into a greased 9 x 13 pan.

10Bake until brownies begin to pull away from the sides of pan, about 30 minutes. Do not overbake.

11Cool slightly. Cut into bars, about 2 x 1 1/2 inches.

13If using self rising flour, omit baking powder and salt.
