I like brownies, but generally I dont have time to make them from scratch. This is an easy way to dress up box brownies, and kill just about any sugar/chocolate craving you can imagine. They come out ooey and gooey in the middle and candy/crunchy on the bottom. You can't beat that.

Oh gosh, with a gooey middle these brownies are good. Hot chocolate sprinkled on the baking dish adds a slight crispness to the outside of the brownies. The chocolate sauce candies on top of the brownies creating a special, crunchy topping making these brownies truly supreme. They're quick, easy and will be a big hit with everyone.

Ingredients For candied lava brownies

  • 1
    box of your favorite brownie mix (prepared according to package directions) or your favorite brownie recipe
  • 2 tsp
    hot chocolate mix (no marshmallows)
  • "LAVA"
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    water
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 1/2 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
    vanilla extract

How To Make candied lava brownies

  • Greasing a baking dish.

    Grease an appropriately sized baking dish for your brownie mix/recipe.
  • Coating the baking dish in hot chocolate mix.

    Sprinkle hot chocolate mix around the bottom and sides and shake to coat liberally.
  • Bringing butter and water to a boil.

    In a small saucepan, combine water and butter. Bring to a boil.
  • Whisking in confectioners' sugar and cocoa.

    Whisk in the sugar and cocoa powder until smooth.
  • Stirring vanilla extract into chocolate sauce.

    Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla; set aside.
  • Preparing the brownies.

    Meanwhile, mix brownie batter.
  • Brownie batter poured into the baking dish.

    Pour into baking dish.
  • Drizzling chocolate sauce on top of brownie batter.

    Drizzle chocolate mixture evenly over the top of the brownie mix.
  • Baked brownies on a cooling rack.
