My mother LOVED pound cakes. Momma had Crohns disease and when she didn't feel well, sometimes pound cake was the only thing that she could eat. She has been gone almost 5 years but I still think of her everytime I make this pound cake.

1/2 cmargarine, softened

1/2 cvegetable shortening

2 csugar

4eggs
-
1/2 tspbaking soda

1 cbuttermilk
-
2 cplain flour

1/8 tspsalt

2 tsplemon extract

1 tspalmond extract
How To Make buttermilk pound cake

1Cream margarine and shortening; add sugar and mix well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each egg. Dissolve soda in buttermilk. Combine all dry ingredients. Add alternately with buttermilk to creame mixture. Stir in flavorings. Pour into a greased and flowered tube pan. Bake 350 degrees for 1 hour and 5 minutes. Cool in pan for 10 minutes.
