This is the ultimate icing for decorating cakes. It is not too sweet and you can add different flavorings to go with any cake.

Ingredients For buttercream icing

1/2 csalted butter (room temperature)

1/2 cbutter flavored crisco

1 Tbspvanilla flavoring ( or your favorite flavor)

1 lbbox of powdered sugar

2-4 Tbspmilk

paste food coloring, as desired
How To Make buttercream icing

1Cream butter and crisco until smooth, add vanilla or whatever flavoring you like.

2Beat in powdered sugar one cup at a time until it resembles coarse crumbs.

3Add milk a little at a time until desired consistency. If you are coloring it, add small amounts of paste color until you get the color you want. Remember the colors deepen as it sits.

4If you are decorating with tips, you want the icing a little stiffer than if you are just icing a cake or cupcakes.
