buttercream frosting

This is my "go to" buttercream. Great on layer cakes and cupcakes!

Ingredients For buttercream frosting

  • 2 stick
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 6-8 c
    powdered sugar

How To Make buttercream frosting

  • 1
    With an electric mixer, mix butter until creamy and smooth.
  • 2
    Add 4 cups of powdered sugar, vanilla and milk and mix on low speed until well combined.

    Add two more cups of powdered sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
  • 4
    Add remaining powdered sugar if needed for consistency. 7 cups usually works for me.
