This recipe is one that my Grandmother gave me in a recipe book she had made for me 2 years before she passed.It contained all of her favorite foods that she so enjoyed making.

Ingredients For boiled raisin cake

  • 3 c
    seedless raisins
  • 3 c
    water
  • 2 c
    sifted flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/2 c
    margerine
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 2
    eggs

How To Make boiled raisin cake

    Cover raisins with water. Bring to boil and simmer 20 minutes. Drain raisins and reserve one cup liquid. Let cool

    Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.

    Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each egg.Fold raisins into batter.

    Blend in flour mixture alternately with raisin liquid into butter/sugar mixture,beating well after each addition.

    Spread into greased and floured 9 by 13 baking pan. Bake 350 degrees for 60-70 minutes. Cool in pan and ice with your favorite topping
