1/4 cchopped walnuts

1/2 cseedless blackberry jam

1/3 cbuttermilk

1/4 tspground nutmeg

1/4 tspcloves, ground

1/2 tspbaking soda

1 tspground cinnamon

1 cunbleached all-purpose flour

2 lgeggs
-
1/4 cbutter
-
1 3/4 csifted confectioners' sugar
How To Make blackberry jam cake

1Cream together sugar and butter.

2Beat in eggs.

3Stir together flour, and spices; add to creamed mixture alternately with butter/sour milk, beating until well blended after each addition.

4Fold in blackberry jam or preserves and nuts leaving swirls of jam, do not overmix.

5Turn into greased and lightly floured 9 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan.

6Bake at 350 degree oven 25 minutes or until done.

7Cool completely, then frost with Caramel Icing.

8CARAMEL ICING: In small saucepan, melt butter; stir in brown sugar.

9Cook stirring constantly, until mixture bubbles; remove from heat.

10Cool 5 minutes.

11Stir in milk and blend in confectioners\' sugar; beat until spreading consistency is reached.
