Don't you just LOVE the smell and taste of BLACK WALNUTS? My sister has a tree in her yard and we just got through cracking and shelling some. The smell is awesome. This is an old time cake and it smells great cooking. My mother and Daddy had a Black Walnut Tree too. My mother picked out the walnuts and cooked Black Walnut Cakes. There is no other taste and smell like it...You'll love it. !!ENJOY !!

1 cbutter, softened

1/2 cshortening, butter flavor

3 csugar

5eggs

3 call purpose flour

1 tspbaking powder

1 cwhole milk

1 tspvanilla extract

1/4 -1/2 tspalmond extract

1 cchopped black walnuts
- CREAM CHEESE FROSTING

1 pkg8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/4 cbutter, softened

3 3/4 cconfectioners' sugar

1 tspvanilla extract
How To Make black walnut pound cake

1CAKE: In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, shortening, and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour and baking powder; add alternately to creamed mixture and with milk and extract, beating on low speed just until combined. Fold in the nuts.

2Pour into a greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 325 degree preheated oven about 1 hour and 25 minutes or until a tooth pick comes out clean. Remove from oven, cool on cooling rack 10 minutes before removing from pan to cool completely. Frost when completely cooled with following frosting.

3FROSTING: In a small bowl combine all ingredients; spread over cooled cake.
