This is a bonus recipe for the oats layer cake family of recipes. The flavor is black forest and the frosting is a delicious white chocolate.

3 crolled oats, divided
-
3/4 csemi-sweet chocolate chips
-
1 ccherry pie filling, divided

1 cchilled chocolate milk
-
1 boxchocolate cake mix (15.25 oz)

3/4 cwater
-
1/4 cvegetable oil
-
4 lgeggs
-
1 pkginstant chocolate pudding mix (3.9 oz)

4 Tbspmargarine, divided
-
1 jarmaraschino cherries, quartered, juice drained and 1/2 cup reserved (6 oz)

1/2 chot fudge sauce
-
8 ozwhite chocolate bar, chopped
-
1 tspcream of tartar
-
3/4 chalf and half
-
1 cheavy cream
-
8 ozcream cheese, softened
How To Make black forest oats layer cake

1In a medium jar, combine 1 cup rolled oats, semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1/2 cup cherry pie filling and chocolate milk. Using a fork, stir together for 2 minutes until blended.

2Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours.

3Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat two 9" round cake pans with cooking spray.

4In a large bowl, combine cake mix, water, vegetable oil, eggs and pudding mix. Beat at low speed for 3 minutes.

5Add the chocolate-cherry oat mixture into the cake batter and beat again on medium speed for 30 minutes.

6Pour into the cake pans. Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted the center comes out clean. Cool completely for 8 minutes.

7Heat 2 tablespoons margarine in a large deep skillet over medium-low heat. Add remaining rolled oats and sliced maraschino cherries and saute for 5 minutes or until set.

8Remove from heat. Stir in hot fudge sauce. Set aside.

9Heat remaining margarine in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk chopped white chocolate and cream of tartar together for 2 minutes until smooth. Slowly stir in half and half. Remove from heat.

10In a medium bowl, combine heavy cream, melted white chocolate mixture, cream cheese and reserved cherry juice; mix well for 5 minutes or until blended.

11Place a layer of cake on a serving plate. Spread half the frosting onto the cake evenly. Add sauteed oat mixture onto the frosting.

12Place a second cake on top. Spread remaining frosting on the top and sides of the cake. Top with remaining cherry pie filling.
