This is a recipe that my great aunt gave each girl when she got married, I remember when I got my copy. I always thought her last name was "Pounds" because of this cake.

Ingredients For aunt aileen's pound cake

1 lbbutter, softened

2 csugar

12eggs

1 tspsalt

1 Tbspvanilla

4 cflour

1 1/2 tspbaking powder
How To Make aunt aileen's pound cake

1Preheat oven to 350* Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and salt. Keep mixing until mixture is beginning to looked whipped.

2Add flour and baking powder to mixture 1/2 cup at a time.

3Grease and flour a tube pan. Pour cake batter into greased and floured pan. Shake it a little to make sure it is even in the pan then pick it up a few inches off the counter (2 or 3 inches) and drop it back onto the counter three or four times. (Gets rid of air bubbles for more even baking.) Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes. (A bunt pan can be used and Baker's Joy can also be used.)
