Went to an auction and found this old tin recipe box with hand written recipes and some clipped from various places. This one sounded pretty good.

Ingredients For applesauce spice bars

1 capplesauce

2/3 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

1/4 cvegetable oil

2eggs
-
2 cbisquick baking mix

1/4 cbutter
-
2 cpowdered sugar

1 tspvanilla
-
1 or 2 Tbsphot water

1 tsppumpkin pie spice
-
1/2 cchopped nutes
How To Make applesauce spice bars

1Heat oven to 350. Grease oblong pan, 13x9x2

2Beat applesauce, brownsugar, oil, and eggs in large bowl at medium speed. For about 1 minute.

3Stir in baking mix, pumpkin pie spice, and nuts. Pour into prepared pan evenly.

4Bake for 25 minutes or until toothpick is clean when inserted. Cool

5Prepare Browned Butter Glaze: Heat butter over low heat until golden brown; remove from heat. Beat in powdered sugar and vanilla. Stir in water, 1 teaspoon at a time, until smoothe and of desired consistency.

6Spread on cooled cake. Cut into bars, about 3x1 inch.
