Ingredients For applesauce - date cake

2 c"unsifted" all purpose flour

2 tspbaking soda

1 tspcinnamon

1/2 tspallspice

1/2 tspnutmeg

1/4 tspground cloves
-
2eggs
-
1 clight brown sugar, packed firmly

1/2 cbutter, softened
-
2 c"hot" applesauce
-
1 cdates, chopped
-
3/4 ccoarsely chopped walnuts
How To Make applesauce - date cake

1Preheat oven: 350 degrees. Grease & flour a 9 x 9 inch pan; set aside.

2In large bowl: mix flour with baking soda, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, & cloves. Add eggs, brown sugar, soft butter & 1 cup of "HOT" applesauce; beat at low speed just until ingredients are combined. Beat again for 2 more minutes at medium speed.

3Add remaining 1 cup "HOT" applesauce, dates,& nuts; beat for 1 minute. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 50 minutes. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes; then remove & cool on wire rack.
