This Apple Upside- Down Cake is so good....I made it One year for Thanksgiving. By accident I left out the buttermilk !! But you know what it came out perfect anyways!!! Hope who ever makes this cake will enjoy it almost as much as I did making it.

Ingredients For apple upside- down cake

  • 1 1/2 stick
    butter, room temperature
  • 1/3 c
    brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    pure maple syrup
  • 2 lg
    granny smith apples---peeled, cored and cut into 1/2 to 1 inch cubes
  • 1/2 c
    coarsely chopped hazelnuts or almonds
  • 1 tsp
    fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cardamom or cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    sat
  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 3/4 c
    granulated sugar
  • 2 lg
    eggs, at room temperature
  • 1/2 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c
    buttermilk

How To Make apple upside- down cake

    PREHEAT OVEN 350 DEGREES BUTTER A DEEP DISH 9 INCH ROUND PIE PLATE. iN MEDIUM SAUCE PAN MELT 4 TBS. BUTTER.

    aDD BROWN SUGAR AND MAPLE SYRUP AND STIR OVER MEDIUM HEAT UNTILL SUGAR BUBBLES. rEMOVE FROM HEAT STIR IN THE APPLES, NUTS, LEMON JUICE, CINNAMON AND A PINCH OF SALT.

    SPREAD THE MIXTURE OVER THE BOTTOM OF THE PREPARED PIE PAN. iN A MEDIUM BOWL WHISK TOGETHER THE FLOUR, BAKING POWDER AND 1/4 TSP. SALT SET ASIDE.

    iN MIXER BEAT REMAINING 8 TBS. OF Butter untill smooth add sugar beat on medium speed, untill light and fluffy. Add eggs 1 at a time untill incoperated, mix vanilla add flour mixture in 3 parts alterating buttermilk.
