Corn Dogs

"Corn dogs can be homemade by dunking hot dogs in a cornmeal and buttermilk batter and then frying until done. Easy and excellent. Here's how...."

INGREDIENTS
1 cup all-purpose flour, plus more for coating the hot dogs
2/3 to 1 cup finely ground cornmeal (the exact amount depends on how thick and corny you like your corndog coating)
3 tablespoons granulated sugar (or substitute honey)
2 teaspoons baking powder
Generous pinch salt
1 large egg
1 to 1 1/4 cups whole milk or buttermilk
8 to 12 hot dogs
Vegetable or peanut oil, for frying
Mustard, for serving
