1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger (about a 2-inch piece)

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (I use white whole wheat)

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon sea salt
•
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
•
1/2 teaspoon allspice
•
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
•
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
•
2 tablespoons ground ginger
•
1/2 teaspoon ground mace or ground nutmeg
