chocolate skillet cake
INGREDIENTS

for the cake:

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
•
for the chocolate buttercream:
•
1/2 cup softened butter
•
1 cup powdered sugar
•
1 Tablespoon pure vanilla extract
•
3 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted and cooled
•
Beat butter until light and creamy. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla and beat until mixed in evenly. Add the cooled, melted chocolate chips. Beat until smooth and color is uniform. Frost the cooled cake.

2 oz. dark chocolate bar, coarsely chopped
•
2 teaspoons instant coffee or espresso powder
•
1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
•
1 teaspoon baking soda
•
1 teaspoon salt
•
1/2 cup + 2 Tablespoons butter, room temperature
•
1 cup packed, brown sugar
•
1/4 cup white sugar
•
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
•
3 large eggs
•
1/4 cup + 2 Tablespoons buttermilk
•
1 teaspoon cinnamon
