Makes 1 set of top & bottom crusts or 2 bottom crusts for 9" pie. This is my mother's recipe. Her pie crusts were always perfect. Her tip is touch the dough as little as possible!

Ingredients For pie crust

  • 2 c
    flour
  • 3/4 tsp
    salt
  • 2/3 c
    shortening
  • 4 to 6 Tbsp
    cold water

How To Make pie crust

  • 1
    Sift flour and salt. Cut in shortening Add water 1 tbs at a time
  • 2
    Divide into 2 equal parts Roll out Transfer to pie plate. Crimp edges.
  • 3
    If needed for a baked shell : bake at 425 for 9-12 min.
