Ingredients For cornmeal waffles

    eggs
  • 1 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 c
    fine cornmeal, sifted
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 1/3 c
    shortening, melted
  • 2 Tbsp
    unsalted butter, melted (for greasing waffle iron)

How To Make cornmeal waffles

    Preheat the waffle iron.

    Beat the eggs in a large mixing bowl until light in color. Gradually add the remaining ingredients and whisk until blended thoroughly.

    Brush the waffle iron generously with the melted butter. Pour batter onto hot waffle iron and bake until golden. Serve with butter and syrup.
