Ingredients For ~ perk up the mornin w/ coffee bars ~ yum

  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/3 c
    butter, softened
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/3 c
    strong brewed coffee
  • 1 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    each - salt and baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 c
    each - choc chips & chopped walnuts
  • GLAZE
  • 3/4 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    kahlua or coffee - i used kahlua

How To Make ~ perk up the mornin w/ coffee bars ~ yum

    Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Well grease an 8 inch square baking pan. In a med bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Beat in egg and coffee.

    Sift together the flour, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Beat until thoroughly blended.

    Stir in 1/2 the nuts and all choc chips. Spread into prepared pan.

    Bake for 35 min or until pick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from oven to rack for cooling.

    Make glaze: Whisk together sugar, vanilla and kahlua until smooth.

    I remove from pan while warm, to a piece of waxed or parchment paper, then drizzle with glaze and sprinkle with remaining nuts! Enjoy with your morning coffee or just anytime!
