  • 3/4 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • zest of 1 orange
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1/2 c
    applesauce, unsweetened
  • 1/3 c
    water
  • 2 c
    old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 c
    dried cherries

How To Make oatmeal breakfast cookie

    Combine the flour, baking soda, and orange zest in small bowl.

    Whip the butter and brown sugar until well combined.

    Mix in the eggs and vanilla, then add the applesauce and water.

    Add the flour mixture to the wet mixture.

    Mix in the oats, then the dried cherries.

    Chill the dough for 30 minutes to firm up.

    Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line some baking sheets with parchment paper.

    Use an ice cream scoop to scoop balls of dough onto the baking sheet.

    Bake 15 minutes. Flatten the cookies and bake 3 minutes more.
