Ingredients For fruitcake scones

  • 2 3/4 c
    flour, divided
  • 1/3 c
    sugar
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 c
    butter, cold
  • 3/4 c
    fruitcake mix
  • 1/4 c
    candied cherries
  • 1 tsp
    almond extract
  • 1 c
    buttermilk

How To Make fruitcake scones

    Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

    Spray scone pan with cooking spray.
  • 3
    In a large mixing bowl combine 2 cups flour, the sugar, baking powder and baking soda.

    Add butter. Use hands to blend until coarse crumbs are formed.

    Add fruitcake mix and cherries, mix until combined.

    Add almond extract to buttermilk. Stir to combine.

    Pour buttermilk into flour mixture. Mix until soft dough is formed.

    Add remaining flour, 1/4 cup at a time, until dough is not sticky.

    Add dough to scone pan.

    Bake 15-18 minutes until lightly brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
