Ingredients For french bostock (better than french toast)
- FOR THE BREAD

thick slice bread

1 partsugar
-
2 partswater
-
sliced almonds
- FOR PASTRY CREAM
-
7 ozpkg almond paste, not marzipan
-
2large eggs
-
1 pinchsea salt
-
Fewdrops almond extract
How To Make french bostock (better than french toast)

1Preheat oven to 425
-
2Note - Thick slices of bread are traditional. If you have thinner slices, sandwich a little pastry cream between two slices before using the sugar syrup.

3For pastry cream, place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until smooth.

4Combine the sugar and water in small saucepan and heat just until sugar melts.

5Place bread on baking sheet and brush with the syrup being generous but not soaking wet.

6Top each piece with the almond cream and sprinkle with almonds.

7Bake for 8-12 minutes, until top is golden.

8Serve sprinkled with powdered sugar.

9Note - leftover pastry cream can be frozen
