Ingredients For baked french toast on a lazy morning

  • Some
    cooking spray or butter
  • 8 slice
    bread, any kind
  • 6
    large eggs
  • 2 Tbsp
    milk, or any liquid
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract, if desired
  • Some
    ground cinnamon, if desired

How To Make baked french toast on a lazy morning

  • 1
Spray a cookie sheet (with sides) with cooking spray or just butter it. I used aluminum foil over my cookie sheet, then sprayed it. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • 2
Slice the bread, if you need to. Thicker bread slices may need more egg mixture, time to soak in before baking, and maybe a longer baking time.
  • 3
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla, if you’re adding it.
  • 4
Dip the bread in the egg mixture on both sides, just enough to coat.
  • 5
Pour any excess egg mixture evenly on the bread.
  • 6
Sprinkle with cinnamon, if desired. Allow the egg mixture to soak into the bread while the oven finishes its preheating time, just a minute or two for regular sliced bread.
  • Finished French Toast
    7
Bake at 375°F for about 8 minutes, then flip and bake about 5 minutes more, or until the French Toast is as browned as you like it. Thicker bread will take a few more minutes.

Serve immediately with butter, warm syrup, or your favorite toppings.
