This meal was supposedly concocted as late-night fuel for 1920s musicians, at a spot called New Joe's, on Columbus St. in San Francisco.

Ingredients For joe's special

  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 md
    onion, chopped
  • 1 c
    fresh mushrooms, chopped
  • 1 lb
    ground sirloin
  • 3
    eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 tsp
    granulated garlic
  • 1 tsp
    oregano
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    freshly ground pepper
  • 6 c
    coarsely chopped spinach

How To Make joe's special

    Melt butter and oil in large skillet. Add onion and saute briefly.

    Mix in mushrooms and meat and cook until meat is brown.

    Add eggs and seasonings and stir over medium heat until eggs are almost cooked.

    Stir in spinach and cook few minutes longer, until spinach is barely wilted.

    Serve immediately.
