Ingredients For fried apples

2 tbsp bacon grease

2 tbsp butter, salted

6 large green apples, unpeeled, cored, quartered, thick slices

3/4 cup sugar

1/4 - 1/2 tsp cinnamon

pinch of salt

1/4 cup water
-
1/4 lemon, juiced
-
1 tsp butter
How To Make fried apples

1In a large cast iron pan heat the bacon grease and the butter.

2Add the apples, sugar, cinnamon, salt and water, mix well; bring pan to a boil over medium high heat, cover and let the apples steam for 5 - 6 minutes.

3Lower the heat and remove the lid, continue frying until the apples are tender and the syrup looks like it is jelling.

4Sprinkle with lemon juice, mix and pour into a serving dish, add a dab of butter on top and enjoy.
