My Grandbabies just love this easy breakfast food. They even like to drop the egg in the well.

Ingredients For egg in the well

    small non-stick skillet
  • 1
    slice of bread
  • 1
    egg
  • 2
    tbs. of butter or margarine
  • salt and pepper to taste

How To Make egg in the well

    Heat skillet on Med. flame. Make a small hole in the middle of the bread slice, folding back but not removing the piece of bread. Place 1 tbs.spoon of butter in heated skillet. Lay the bread slice in the skillet flap side up. When the bread begins to fry crack the egg and lightly drop into center of the bread. Let it cook until the egg white is almost done.(When you drop the egg inside the bread the egg white will spill over into the skillet).* This is normal.

    Let it cook until the white is almost done. Gently pick up with a spatuala and before flipping add the other tbs. of butter allowing it to completely melt. Cook completely until golden brown on both sides. Remove and place on plate. A little pat of butter may be added to the middle of the egg. Salt and pepper to taste.

    These are cooked individually, so cook as many as needed. Enjoy! *Note If you have children let them share in preparing breakfast. They usually like to crack the egg and drop it in the well.
