air fryer essentials: cheesy bacon/egg muffin
These are easy/peasy to assemble and they taste really, really yummy. You can vary the cheese (tart, mild, or a combination), and choose a different protein (bacon, ham, sausage), or leave it out. In fact, next time I think that I will add a slice of tomato. And, as the weather gets colder… a bit of cayenne.
The air fryer makes quick work of getting these on the table and to your hungry guests.
So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

How To Make air fryer essentials: cheesy bacon/egg muffin
-
1PREP/PREPARE
-
2To make these, you will need an air fryer, or they could be baked in an oven set to convection mode for similar results.
-
3Gather your ingredients (mise en place).
-
4Add the diced bacon to a pan and cook until it has reached your level of doneness.
-
5Drain on paper towels and reserve.
-
6Chef’s Note: Whatever you choose, bacon, sausage, ham, etc., make sure that it is precooked.
-
7Set your air fryer to 375f (190c), and let it preheat for about 5 minutes.
-
8Chef’s Tip: Most air fryer recipes do not talk about preheating; however, I find that I get more consistent results if I preheat. In most cases, 5 or 6 minutes does the trick.
-
9Cut the English muffin in half, lightly toast, and then dig a small indentation out of the middle of each one.
-
10Chef's Tip: If you are using bacon, then lightly brush some of the bacon grease over the cut tops. If you are using something else, melt a bit of butter, and brush over the cut tops. It makes a world of difference to the final product.
-
11Chef’s Tip: I used a biscuit cutter to define the indentation, and then used a spoon to scrape it out.
-
12Add two tablespoons of the cheese, to each half, and then add the bacon.
-
13Add the eggs.
-
14Divide the rest of the cheese over the tops. If you want to use more cheese... I am not stopping you :-)
-
15Chef’s Tip: I like to crack the egg in a bowl… That way I can check for any pieces of shell, and make sure the yolk stays whole.
-
16Chef’s Note: Sprinkle with a bit of salt and pepper, to taste.
-
17Place into the air fryer and cook for about 4 – 5 minutes.
-
18PLATE/PRESENT
-
19Remove from the air fryer and serve while nice and hot. Enjoy.
-
20Keep the faith, and keep cooking.
