It doesn't get any easier than this lovely recipe that serves two. Prepare it the night before and pop it into the oven in the morning. Breakfast is on the table in 30 minutes. This is my husband's favourite way to enjoy French toast. A croissant French toast bake that is quick and easy to make; crisp on the outside, soft, tender, and delicious inside. Garnished with fresh strawberries, maple syrup, and whipped cream, for a special treat. Please note: The time shown does not include chilling in the refrigerator overnight.

How To Make jer's favourite french toast

  • 1
Butter two small casserole dishes and set aside until needed.
  • 2
Add the crossiant chunks into a large bowl and set aside.
  • 3
Now add the following into another bowl: eggs, cream, vanilla, sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Whisk until nice and frothy.
  • 4
Slowly pour the custard over the croissant pieces. Then mix well with a gentle hand. All the pieces need to be coated in the mixture.
  • 5
Next, pour the French toast mixture into the prepared dishes. Cover with tin foil and place in the fridge until ready to use in the morning.
  • 6
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • 7
I usually prepare the strawberries while the oven is preheating. Add the sliced berries, maple syrup, and salt into a small bowl and stir well. Place in the refrigerator to chill until needed.
  • 8
Take the cold French toast bake out of the fridge and remove the tin foil. Then place the dishes on a cookie sheet and bake for 25 - 30 minutes.
  • 9
If your dish is browning too quickly, cover with tin foil. It should be a dark golden brown.
  • 10
Check with a fork to make sure that the egg has cooked completely before removing it from the oven. Place on rack for a few minutes. Run a knife along the edge of the dish to release it. Then remove from dish and place it top side up on your serving plate.
  • 11
Gently spoon the strawberries and maple syrup over the baked French toast. Top with whipped cream and enjoy.
