Ingredients For french toast casserole

1 cpacked brown sugar

1/2 cbutter or margarine

2 Tbsplight colored corn syrup

1 lbon sliced cinnamon bread cut into one-inch slices

8 lgeggs, beaten

3 chalf-and-half or light cream
-
2 Tbspvanilla
-
1/2 tspsalt
-
1 Tbsporange liqueur (optional)
How To Make french toast casserole

1In a medium saucepan combine brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup. Cook and stir until mixture comes to a boil. Boil, uncovered, for 1 minute. Pour brown sugar mixture evenly into 3 quart rectangular baking dish.

2Arrange bread slices on top of brown sugar mixture. Combine eggs, and half-and-half, vanilla and salt; pour evenly over bread slices. Cover and chill up to 24 hours.

3Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake, uncovered, for 40 to 45 minutes until top is fluffy and brown, and a knife inserted near center comes out clean. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving. If desired, drizzle with orange liqueur.
