I love french toast! Add vanilla and maple syrup and its a winner! Who wouldn't want to wake up to this?

Ingredients For vanilla french toast

    eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 c
    half-and-half or light cream
  • 1 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 8
    slices dry white or whole wheat bread
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter or vegetable oil
  • maple-flavored syrup
  • sliced bananas (optional)

How To Make vanilla french toast

    In a shallow bowl, beat together eggs, half-and-half, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Dip bread slices into egg mixture, coating both sides.

    In a very large skillet or on a griddle, melt 1 tablespoon of the butter over medium heat. Add half of the bread slices and cook for 4 to 6 minutes or until golden, turning once. Repeat with remaining bread slices and the remaining butter. Serve with maple syrup and sliced bananas.
