A friend gave me a recipe years ago for "Orange Date Bread" and I wanted to make it this morning but I didn't have dates,so I substituted golden raisins for the dates,I used two kinds of sugar, and it came out delicious! If you like citrus flavored things, this is very tasty and the combination of pecans and golden raisins with the orange glaze are fresh.

Ingredients For orange quick bread

1 stickbutter, softened,equals 1/2 cup.

1 csugar: half granulated cane sugar and light brown sugar.

2 lgeggs

2/3 cbuttermilk

2 cflour
-
1 pinchsalt
-
1 Tbspzest of an orange

1 cgolden raisins
-
1/2 cchopped pecans
- TOPPING TO BE ADDED TO WARM BAKED BREAD:

1 csugar
-
1/2 cfresh orange juice
-
2 Tbspzest of orange
How To Make orange quick bread

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees; grease and flour a 9 X 5 loaf pan.

2Cream butter and sugar; add eggs one at a time and beat. Alternately, add buttermilik and flour. Stir in salt, orange zest and raisins and pecans.

3Place batter in loaf pan and bake one hour. Remove from the oven and poke holes in the bread.

4While bread is baking combine the topping ingredients and stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Pour over the bread while it is hot out of the oven.
