This recipe belongs to my late mother-in-law Amanda Gainey aka "Momma Gainey" She died when I was 1 day from being 11 months old. Actually she died on Labor Day which was Sept 3, 1979.

Ingredients For momma gainey's sugar donut holes

1 1/2 call purpose flour

1/3 csugar

2 tspbaking powder
-
1/2 tspsalt
-
1/2 tspground nutmeg
-
1egg
-
1/2 cmilk
-
2 Tbspbutter, melted
-
oil for deep fat frying

confectioners' sugar
How To Make momma gainey's sugar donut holes

1In a large mixing bowl - combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg

2In a small mixing bowl - combine egg, milk and butter
-
3Add wet mixture to dry ingredients; mix well

4In a electric skillet or deep fat fryer - heat oil to 375 degrees F
-
5Drop dough by heaping teaspoons full, 5 or 6 at a time, into oil

6Fry until browned, about 1 to 2 minutes, turning once

7Drain on paper towels

8Roll in confectioners' sugar
