lovely cinnamon buns
(2 ratings)
I love making these. The recipe is a real timer saver as you can have them done in a couple of hours.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
Soft and airy, these lovely cinnamon buns have the perfect amount of filling. There's a lot of cinnamon flavor, but it doesn't go overboard. Kissed with the right amount of vanilla, the icing makes these even more decadent. Preparing these cinnamon buns does take a while, but they're not hard to make. A great recipe for the weekend or a holiday morning when life isn't as rushed.

How To Make lovely cinnamon buns
Test Kitchen Tips
We started by adding 1 1/2 cups of flour and gradually added more using the entire 3 1/2 cups.
-
1Warm milk, sugar, salt, and butter in a pan.
-
2Cool between 100 - 110 degrees. Add yeast and allow it to dissolve and bloom.
-
3Add beaten egg.
-
4In a KitchenAid mixer (dough hook) or by hand, stir in 1 1/2 cups of the flour to liquid. Continue adding a little at a time until a soft non-sticky dough forms. Knead on setting 3 or 4 for about 5 minutes, or knead by hand until a soft dough ball forms.
-
5Put the dough ball into an oiled bowl and cover it with a damp towel. Place in a cold oven for 1 hour to rise.
-
6Punch down and roll out dough to about 1/2 inch thick into a 9x12 rectangle.
-
7Spread softened butter over the dough.
-
8Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together. Spread the mixture onto the butter.
-
9Roll the dough up on the long side.
-
10Slice the dough into 12 rolls and place them into a greased 9x13 baking dish. Cover with a dry towel and let them rise for 30 minutes.
-
11Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bake the rolls for 15 - 20 minutes or until golden brown.
-
12Mix icing to desired thickness and spread on warm rolls.
