Ingredients For irish soda bread

2 cunsifted flour
-
2 Tbspsugar
-
1/2 tspsalt
-
2 tspbaking powder
-
1 tspbaking soda
-
1/2 craisins
-
1 Tbspcaraway seeds
-
3 Tbspbutter, softened
-
1 cbuttermilk
How To Make irish soda bread
-
1Preheat oven to 375F
Lightly grease a cookie sheet or use parchment paper -
2Sift first five ingredients into a large bowl
Add raisins and caraway seeds
Cut in softened butter
Add buttermilk
Mix with a fork until moistened -
3Move dough to a lightly floured surface
Knead until smooth; tacky but not sticky (a little may need to be added)
Shape into a ball -
4Put on the cookie sheet
Flatten to a seven inch mound
Make a crosscut in the dough being careful not to cut even halfway through
Bake 30-40 minutes until tapping the surface makes a hollow sound -
5Serve immediately or wrap in a linen towel to keep
